Tomorrow at This Time...

...I will be in the Finnair lounge waiting for my Copenhagen plane. The trip means a lot to me: i have long followed Danish fashion and design and it is one of those trends that are close to my nature. On top of that, Copenhagen is irritatingly close, just 1,5 hours away by a plane. And!!! I have not been anywhere since last February (trip to Budapest). Just keeping fingers crossed we actually get there tomorrow. :)

So, without knowing anything about the place and secretly keeping a Copenhagen travel guide purchased in Stockmann bookstore already in summer 2011 on one of those late pregnancy "I-hate-myself-and-this-huge-stomach-and-I-will-soon-travel-no-matter-what" days I have a certain idea of Denmark cultural and design landscape, which will be updated and upgraded a.s.a.p :)

1. Denmark is the land of white homes: either more towards the country style or to industrial with colourful accents but white dominates. Love it.

2. Denmark is the land of ressurected 60s retro (in the form of colourful AND durable kids clothes). I start wondering who love children more: Italians or Danish? :)

SmÄfolk:

Molo kids:

The genius Stokke - it DOES grow with your child.

3. Danish love owls. So do I.

4. Copenhagen is the culinaristic capital of Scandinavia. Toast Skagen - anyone?

5. Copenhagen hosts the lovely Nyhavn with those fairytale houses, in one of which there lived a real fairy tale teller - mister Andersen. His house is the red one on the picture.

6. Pilgrim jewelry is from Denmark. I started collecting my gold-plated charms already some 5 years ago. They are still pop. Here you can view the newest ones.

7. Danish clothes are all about sleek simple lines, natural colours and natural materials.

The ones to watch are:

- by Malene Birger - luxury is simple.

Shop Malene Birger here, delivery over 200 eur is free. Sale ongoing.

- Selected Femme/Homme - genius everyday clothes which look classy but casual.
Love the SS dress in a birch print.

Not much I know about Danish designers, so something to learn!

So if you have any tips for my trip, let me know before tomorrow afternoon.

  2. choice well justified, right? it is one of the shortest flights to a place I am interested, you know...because of Leo. If I lived in London, my choice would be southern France, I think. ;)
