Me in Deko, Plans for the Weekend & One Colorful Bikini

This sunny day happens to be a birthday of my dear husband. One of us must be getting too old but I really could not come up with any good gift...except a trip to Stockholm this Thursday. He used to study there and it's been some 10 years since he has been there last time. Just hoping the weather will be still good and cherry blossoms will still be in bloom. Fingers crossed.

This day has brought a little surprise to me as well. A short while ago I have written an occasional letter to Deko magazine editor about my new posters that I framed out of packaging paper and purchased on amazon. It was very surprising to see my photo and text with the heading "Lisa's tips" in the May issue's Post topic. Thanks to Deko!

And last but not least: impulsive love at first sight - a colorful bikini I got in Kappahl today on the way to food store (totally irrational - I do not have summer trip booked even!). I just loved the print and couldn't help it...Isn't it a bit Misso.....OK, I stop this, my readers must be fed up with the zigzag obsession. :)

Have a great sunny evening!

Laura's Room and The Little White House

When we moved here I was a bit afraid nothing good would come out of this room: it looked so small. But previous owners had all walls painted grey and there was an odd dark wood shelf above the window (which I took benefit of by painting it white - totally ad hoc). Her room is all about natural wood and beige with splashes of red, white and yellow. That color scale vision I had long before we moved here. The toys on the window shelf are from Russia and Japan, little polka dot suit cases are from Etola. I am also very happy with the carpet choice, it is from Ikea. And the most dear item is Brio stove in red. I have been dreaming about it for quite some time as I think it is so stylish. And both kids seem to love to play with it. Now I am still looking for new curtains to her room (next shopping stop - Marimekko factory outlet) and wooden play food and dishes.

Let me introduce a little treasure that I found today in a flea market of kids stuff but it has found its place on our dining table. For many months I have been a bit obsessed with a white open shelf shaped like a house. I saw similar in several blogs, I asked in shops, I browsed. But have not found. Ideally, I was looking for a big shelf for toys but I have found a mini version of such but just as lovely. Here it is. Maybe I will gather trip memories into it and every time we have a family dinner we can recall those travel moments together...

Here I Am and Here I Stay...

I really feel good here, in our new home. I like the light and the nearness of nature and I like the idea of having two floors. There are many things I can not describe in words. So here are the feeling pictures of the new place. Still A LOT to be completed here...so stay tuned. ;)

Sneak Peek into New Home

Yesterday we went to see our new home for the first time without previous owners' furniture. Painter is now working with the walls there. I love the idea of having own yard and the way how easy it is to get outside when you live in a private house.  Today we start moving some boxes in there by a minibus. New home is now only 2 nights away.  For now a few pictures before I need to run to the store and pack.

Birds & Stripes

This is my outfit for today: the embroidered bird cardie is by Promod (some 1 year old, bought in a very romantic Valentines day trip to Budapest), destroyed jeans are by Zara, stripy top is H&M.  It will be a very very busy day today: we get the keys to our new home!

I Wish: Karen Millen Bags in Tan

I have totally fallen in love with Karen Millen's new collection bags.

My favorites are 2 totes in tan.

The "Box bag" strongly reminds of Celine's Boston. They got it in white too, which also attracts me in a way...

Celine Boston:

I also love this tassel bag, can not choose:

HELP!

Wappu!

Oh yes, it is here again: the day when Finns go a bit crazy with sparkling, balloons, eating out (OUT there, I mean, no matter the weather) and dressing in flashy outfits. I was almost buying a pink cowboy hat yesterday but got sceptical about the weather and decided not to get anything at all. Sun however got merciful and the day is great.

We went to Espa, to Senate Square (where we danced a bit to the outdoor concert), bought balloons for kids in Market Square, had a great brunch at Palace hotel with over-the-roof-tops views of Helsinki. Here some pics of the atmosphere. Tomorrow is going to be day 1 of tough packing-transporting hassle. So we do not pack today: sauna is getting warm and strawberry sparkling wine is waiting in the fridge. ;)

HYVÄÄ WAPPUA!!!

P.S. I got three obsessions going on: 1. regular one - really want to blond my hair for summer (secret plan to do that tomorrow if possible among the hassle) 2. two-tone ballerinas (I ordered a pair - guess which ones ;)) 3. a box bag (exact twin of Celine's Boston) by Karen Millen in tan color.
